Privacy Policy

We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and what rights you have over it.

Last updated: May 1, 2025 🌍 Applies to all Labano Academy users 📧 privacy@labanoacademy.com

Plain-language summary: We collect the minimum data we need to operate our platform and help you build a career in tech. We don't sell your information. You can request a copy, correction, or deletion of your data at any time by emailing privacy@labanoacademy.com.

01

Information We Collect

We collect information you give us directly when you create an account, enrol in a course, contact our support team, or use our platform. This includes:

Account information — your full name, email address, phone number, and password when you register on the Labano Academy platform.

Enrolment and payment information — course selections, payment method details (processed securely through our payment partners — we do not store full card numbers), and transaction history.

Learning activity — your progress through course content, assignment submissions, assessment results, and time spent on the platform.

Communications — messages you send to instructors, our support team, or through community features on the platform.

Device and usage data — your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, and how you interact with our website and platform (pages visited, clicks, session duration).

02

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to operate, improve, and personalise the Labano Academy experience. Specifically, we use it to:

Deliver your course content and track your learning progress across the programmes you've enrolled in.

Process payments, issue receipts, and manage your subscription or enrolment status.

Send you course updates, schedule reminders, assessment deadlines, and communications from your instructors.

Provide career support services — including CV feedback, mock interview coordination, and referrals to our hiring partner network — where you have opted into these services.

Improve our curriculum and platform based on aggregate usage patterns, assessment performance data, and student feedback.

Respond to your support requests, questions, and complaints.

Send you marketing communications about new courses, cohorts, and promotions — you can opt out of these at any time.

Comply with legal obligations and resolve any disputes that may arise.

03

How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We do not trade or rent it to third-party marketers. We share your data only in the following limited circumstances:

Service providers — we share data with trusted third-party vendors who help us operate our platform, process payments, send emails, and host our infrastructure. These providers are contractually bound to use your data only to perform services for us.

Hiring partners — if you opt into our career placement programme, we share relevant profile information (name, track completed, portfolio links, and assessment performance) with employers in our network. We will always ask for your consent before doing this.

Legal requirements — we may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental authority, or if we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.

Business transfers — if Labano Academy is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email or a prominent notice on our platform before your data is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

04

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on secure servers hosted in data centres with industry-standard physical, technical, and administrative safeguards. We use encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest for sensitive data. Access to personal information is restricted to employees and contractors who need it to operate or improve our services.

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. If you close your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 90 days, except where we are required by law to retain it longer (for example, financial transaction records).

No method of data transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we take your data security seriously and implement strong protections, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.

05

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data. These include the right to:

Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.

Correction — request that we correct any inaccurate or incomplete information we hold about you.

Deletion — request that we delete your personal data, subject to certain legal exceptions.

Portability — request that we provide your data in a structured, machine-readable format.

Objection — object to certain types of processing, including direct marketing.

Withdrawal of consent — where we rely on consent to process your data, you may withdraw it at any time. This will not affect the lawfulness of processing that occurred before the withdrawal.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@labanoacademy.com. We will respond to all requests within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before processing a request.

06

Cookies & Tracking

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate and improve our website and platform. Cookies we use fall into three categories:

Essential cookies — required for the platform to function. These include session authentication cookies that keep you logged in. You cannot opt out of these without disabling the platform entirely.

Analytics cookies — help us understand how visitors use our website so we can improve it. We use tools like Google Analytics for this purpose. The data collected is aggregated and anonymised.

Marketing cookies — used to show you relevant Labano Academy promotions on other websites and measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you refuse all cookies, accept only certain types, or delete existing cookies. Please note that disabling cookies may affect the functionality of our website and platform.

08

Children's Privacy

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email (using the address on your account) and by posting a prominent notice on our website at least 14 days before the changes take effect.

Your continued use of our services after the effective date of any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy. If you do not agree with the changes, you should stop using our services and may request deletion of your account.
