Waka Social Foundation
The nonprofit behind the scholarship that's sending 20 Africans to tech school — for free.
Who They Are
A U.S. nonprofit. An African mission.
Waka Social Foundation is a U.S.-registered nonprofit committed to expanding access to AI education, digital infrastructure, and future-ready workforce development across underserved African communities.
Their starting point is clear: more than 775 million people worldwide still lack basic literacy — nearly 17% of the global adult population. Across rural Africa, overcrowded classrooms, under-resourced teachers, and limited access to modern learning tools leave millions of capable students behind.
"The problem is not talent. The problem is access. And access changes everything."
That belief drives everything they build.
Their Approach
Three pillars. Measurable impact.
Waka Social doesn't do charity — they do capacity building. Their work is structured across three scalable pillars.
Infrastructure
Hybrid AI learning labs equipped with devices, connectivity, and structured curriculum — built to last beyond the initial deployment.
Learning
Teacher certification programs and student AI literacy pathways with measurable skill progression, from foundational to workforce-ready.
Ecosystem
Strategic partnerships with institutions, governments, and corporations to create sustainable, long-term impact at scale.
The Partnership
Why Waka Social Chose to Fund This Scholarship
Labano Academy and Waka Social Foundation share a single conviction: African talent is not the bottleneck — access is. This scholarship is not a charity campaign. It is a deliberate investment in 20 individuals who will go on to automate businesses, build products, and train the next wave of African tech workers.
Through this partnership, Waka Social is funding a full cohort of learners across Labano's AI, cybersecurity, digital marketing, and tech courses — removing cost as a barrier for students who qualify but cannot afford to enroll.

Full-stack capacity building.
From classroom infrastructure to corporate AI training, Waka Social operates across the full education and workforce spectrum.
Governance & Accountability
Impact is not assumed. It is measured.
Waka Social operates with full transparency and structured reporting. Institutional partners receive defined KPIs, quarterly progress updates, milestone tracking, and annual impact reports.
A future where African communities are not catching up to technological progress —
but helping define it.
That is Waka Social's vision. And it's the same mission that drives every course, every cohort, and every career we build here at Labano.
